Renusol has developed the VarioSole DS mounting system for use with frameless integrated thin-film modules. The PV on-roof system is based on the Renusol VarioSole for framed modules and has been available since the end of March 2010.
Laminates and high-quality thin-film modules do not have a protecting frame and therefore require special reinforcement that guarantees both higher sensitivity towards pressure loads and a secure hold in any weather.
On the Renusol VarioSole DS system, each single thin-film module (110 x 130cm) is mounted with EPDM-lined clamp profiles. The length of the clamp profiles depends on the dimensions of the modules so that they are securely fastened over the entire length. The clamp profiles then provide the necessary fixation of the modules. Separators on the sides lock the modules in position, and polyamide anti-slip protection serves as mounting aid and keeps the modules from slipping down while the installer is placing them on the mounting profile.
The substructure of the VarioSole DS consists of the rail system of the VarioSole SE - mounted via roof hooks on the roof battens. The roof hooks are attached to the roof truss without having to remove the respective roof area.
The roof hooks carry the load of the entire PV system and the effective wind and snow loads. For plain tile or slate roofing or on request, the system is also available with stainless steel roof hooks, for roofs with corrugated Eternit plates with stainless steel hanger bolts.
By means of the height adjustable roof hooks and/or hanger bolts, the VarioSole system makes the installation as a perfectly even PV area possible even on uneven pitched roofs.
