Disasolar, a French specialist in thin-film PV products, has received a €4,000 prize from Total Group after it was awarded the Innovative Enterprise Award for its PV innovations for future transportation systems.

Spanish manufacturer of BIPV products Unisolar, also known as Soliker, has filed for insolvency, Photon confirms. The insolvency was filed on September 6. According to local news site Bejar al Dia, the company has already started to slash its workforce.
Following a call to tender, Italy-based carport manufacturing firm Giulio Barbieri has won a contract to provide a solar carport system which is due to be installed at Swiss utility firm SIG’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. One of the UK’s largest and most complex building-integrated PV systems has officially turned on today at King’s Cross railway station in London, UK. The 240 kWp system is estimated to generate around 175,000 kWh of solar power each year which is expected to provide around 10% of the station’s electricity needs.
The second phase of Solar Decathlon Europe is well underway after the first phase completed on September 12. Solar Decathlon Europe is an international competition for solar and sustainable housing. The second phase of the competition, which is the judging period, began on September 13 and will run until September 28 whilst the results will be announced on September 30.
On August 31, 500 students from around the world were getting their hands and knees dirty as they started to build their own solar-powered houses in Madrid, Spain, as part of this year’s international competition Solar Decathlon Europe. This first assembly phase will run from August 31-September 12 whilst the main event runs from September 13-28 with results announced on September 30.
