Global Solar Energy has announced that it has contracted FTI Capital Advisors to carry out an asset sale of the company’s portable products division, including the Sunlina and P3 product lines. Global Solar Energy has decided to focus more in the BIPV market and grow its building integrated products division. The company’s portable solar solutions unit mainly serves the military for solar applications, outdoor applications or mobile professionals.
PV modules manufacturer Hanwha Solar has announced that it has provided solar panels for Disney’s Vision House in Innoventions at Epcot at the Walt Disney World Resort.
Bob Huff, California state senator and the mayor of the City of industry, David Perez, attended the opening of the 2MW PV carports and electrical vehicle charging station at the City of Industry’s Metrolink station. United Solar has announced that it has supplied the PV laminates for Pvillion’s first solar sail electric car charging station. Pvillion constructed the charging station, located in Pflugerville, Texas, using United Solar’s products for the 1600W solar sail.

In an attempt to make more use of its urban setting, Battery Park City School PS/IS 276 has installed a new integrated PV system. altPOWER's transparent PV glass canopy is the latest system in the school whose 10 buildings have been equipped with PV systems since 2001. The 50kW of modules can power 50% of the school's lighting and a curriculum-integrated data monitoring system reads the solar production as well as other site-specific environmental conditions and feeds them into a web-based interface and video monitor for academic and public use.
Following its win at the 2011 Solar Decathlon event, the University of Maryland has found a buyer for its winning entry, WaterShed. Pepco, the electric service provider, has purchased the solar-powered house and will transport the building to one of its facilities in Montgomery County, Maryland where it will act as a ‘living classroom’ to illustrate the clean energy possibilities.
Orange County, California’s Great Park will play host to the US Department of Energy’s (US DOE) 2013 Solar Decathlon. The Orange County Great Park is a 1,347-acre site on the publicly-owned portion of the 4,700-acre former Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro, and was selected from a pool of entrants primarily for its emphasis on sustainability and its easy access for visitors.
It appears Soltecture’s efforts last year to rebrand have been rewarded. The company has partnered with New York-based, altPOWER, to develop BIPV projects in the US Solecture will be offering its thin-film modules having produced the first 100MW modules last year.
