Patel Architecture earns Gold Nugget award

Patel Architecture has been named grand award winner at the 2009 Gold Nugget awards ceremony. The practice earned its architectural design and planning excellence merit honors with the completion of the Mayland Hotel in Guangzhou, China. Chosen from the elite pool of merit award winners, grand awards were announced on June 18,  2009  as a feature highlight of PCBC, the nation’s largest regional conference and trade show for the real estate development field.

Peter Mayer, Judging Chairman and Gold Nugget ceremonies producer said, “Gold Nugget award winners reflect our industry’s best, brightest and most innovative architects, planners and builder/developers.”

The Mayland hotel, unique to this building and rising to the challenge of incorporating renewable energy solutions with sustainable architecture, the design provides an array of PV panels covering the entire south façade, integrated 2800m2 of the façade glass. In all, the hotel’s PV technology will have a 280,000kWh capacity. The electricity generated at the site where it will be used reduces the losses that come from handling and distributing it
