Scheuten supplies modules for BIPV project at Dutch train station

Scheuten Solar will supply over 3,000 solar panels for a 500kW installation on the roof of Rotterdam’s Centraal train station in the Netherlands. The integrated glass-glass panels will reportedly constitute the country’s largest building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) project.

Scheuten has already supplied a total of 30,000 square metres of laminated glass, integrated via three different finishes, to the project. And the latest stage will see its panels integrated into the station’s 9,000-square-metre roof. The completion date for the project has been penciled in for early 2013.

"Because of its size and design, Central Station Rotterdam is considered to be a highly prestigious project the world over,” Jan-Willem Tolkamp, BIPV sales manager at Scheuten, said. "Even the logistical organization is very challenging, as due to the train services the time available for assembly work is extremely limited. This makes full and flawless delivery a requirement."
