United Solar has installed 80kW of its Uni-Solar brand photovoltaics on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas cruise ship, which was launched on December 5 out of Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The BIPV laminates were installed by BAM Solar of Miami and willprovide electricity for the ship’s shopping district.
The 80kW system, which covers a floor area of 2,000m2, is expected to generate 111,108 kilowatt hours of energy a year. The project cost a total of US$600,000.

This project is BAM Solar’s second installation of Uni-Solar laminates on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship.
