Dan is a leading designer of BIPV products and building solutions, with 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. He works with architects, engineers and solar manufacturers to create robust solar building systems and has been involved in many high profile BIPV projects. Dan is Chief Technology Officer at Solarcentury, focused on the development of Solarcentury's proprietary solutions and assisting the sales team with product introduction. Philosophically, Dan believes that successful BIPV involves the recognition that "building" is both a verb and a noun. BIPV must satisfy the structural, electrical and weatherproofing roles of a building material, yet to be truly successful and deployed in large amounts, a BIPV solution must fit seamlessly with the building process. A BIPV solution that is used only once may present an interesting eco-aesthetic but a true BIPV solution is one which architects and developers can deploy successfully over and over again and make a true impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This requires an understanding of how buildings are designed, financed, constructed and operated in order to be truly effective. Dan is an engineer and has a PhD & a Masters degree in Renewable Energy from Reading University.
