Melodie de l'Epine joined HESPUL in 2001, when France's solar industry was still extremely small. She has spent the past years contributing to the difficult birth of a solar PV industry in France. This time has been spent working not only on educating installers and the general public about energy efficiency and renewable energies, but also local and national decision makers, financiers and architects, covering the whole spectrum of people involved in creating a functioning solar industry. She takes an active part in national consultative workshops that prepare legislation and policy. Melodie has also worked on the development of solar building design in France, getting information and tools to deciders and architects through European demonstration programmes such as Ecobuildings. HESPULis a non-profit organisation that owns and installed Frances first grid connected PV system in 1992. HESPUL currently participates in IEA’s PVPS task 10 (PV in the urban environment), and has an active role in France advising local government and private investors on integrating solar design principals into urban (re)development projects.
