Simone Niggli-Luder, the multiple world champion in orienteering racing, is now residing in an EnergyPlus house, which was built to comply with the Minergie standard and produces more energy than it uses.
The MegaSlate solar roof system, which was provided by 3S Photovoltaics generates around 30% more energy than the family needs for heating and electricity. Cantonal Councillor Barbara Egger-Jenzer presented the Minergie certificate to the family at their new home in Münsingen near Berne on October 28.
Architects, dadarchitekten, in Berne, turned the Niggli-Luder family's dream of living in a sustainable house into reality. The result is a modern family home certified according to the Minergie standard, built of local wood and other natural, sustainable materials.
