Onyx Solar and Butech have developed a new solar photovoltaic, semi-transparent, backlit floor. The two companies presented the new building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) product during the ceramic giant’s annual show.
The new PV floor is made up of semi-transparent photovoltaic glass, with lights behind the panels generating an exterior light. This effect adds to the product’s aesthetic qualities, making it ideal for use in most buildings. The glass also generates solar electricity, which can be used for self-consumption or connected to the grid.
The new product comes as an addition to the photovoltaic walk-able roof the companies launched last year.
